Hillsborough Hackathon Challenge Set for June 5-7

National Day of Civic Hacking brings together technology professionals to create new applications and platforms.

Hlllsborough County is a growing technology community designated as one of the host areas in Florida to participate in the National Day of Civic Hacking. As part of the national celebration, the Hillsborough County Economic Development Innovation Initiative (EDI2) program will host the Hillsborough Hackathon June 5 – 7 at Microsoft, 5426 Bay Center Drive, Ste. 700 in Tampa.

Local technologists, entrepreneurs, developers, and residents are invited to spend a weekend using their diverse expertise and entrepreneurial spirit to create an innovative software application that can help Hillsborough County residents and businesses.

The purpose of the Hackathon is to illustrate the power of open government practices, particularly where data is readily available to support meaningful collaboration between the public and private sectors.

The National Day of Civic Hacking is a unique opportunity to bring together some of the best and brightest minds in the technology community to push forward civic innovation and open idea-sharing.

The event is free and open to the public. Developers and other interested participants can register online.
